Journal: Journal of Herbal Pharmacotherapy
Study Design: Single-treatment, one-period, three-phase, open-labeled study
Participants: 12 healthy adult volunteers (8 women, 4 men) aged 23-54 years
Intervention: I’m-Yunity (Coriolus versicolor) 1200 mg three times daily with meals for 14 days
Outcome Measures:
- The ability of I’m-Yunity to inhibit or induce CYP3A4, assessed using the erythromycin breath test (EBT) before and after I’m-Yunity administration.
Summary: The study evaluated the potential of I’m-Yunity (a Coriolus versicolor product) to interact with drugs metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP3A4. The results showed no significant change in CYP3A4 activity after 14 days of I’m-Yunity supplementation. The study concluded that short-term use of I’m-Yunity is unlikely to cause clinically significant interactions with drugs metabolized by CYP3A4. However, potential interactions with drugs metabolized by other enzymes or transporter systems remain unknown.
